Wikid integration

There are significant learning benefits for using Missions booklets with the Wikid 11-14 course:

    • Each Mission aims at one of Wikid’s Big Ideas or Core Tasks

    • Teachers can plan lessons with clearer outcomes (the Missions)

    • Students will understand better what’s required, and can track their progress

Wikid Y8 units are designed to assess every statement in the missions they address (Y7 units will do too when they're revised for APP, in 2010). Students can demonstrated they've achieve Missions by doing Wikid assessment tasks:

    • Wikid quizzes are set at individual medals (levels), with short closed answers.

    • Wikid problems test several medals at once, with longer, more open answers

There's a special assessment folder for each Y8 unit, tailored for use with Missions Booklets. You can see how it works below. This first example shows how quiz questions are labelled in terms of Missions and medals.

Here's a Y8 Wikid problem that tests several medals, with longer, more open answers.

In the 'Missions' assessment folder, the marking guide shows how student answers match individual medal criteria. So Missions can help students understand their achievement and next steps.
